Just idle curiosity mainly. I have a nice older Intel board that only supports 2 Gig DDR2 RAM, the board has PCIe and SATA and a whole host of other goodies, so the 2 gig limitation seems arbitrary.

I've had trouble finding anything like that. Unfortunately, Intel switched to DDR2 so long ago that pretty much anything with a PCI-E slot on that side is DDR2 only.
